Why Your Child would Benefit from Private 1:1 Yoga Sessions

Private Sessions are available for all ages and all levels of practitioners, however our older youth - Teens and Tweens - are most interested in this offering. These age groups are in desperate need of Inner Connection with their Selves. Teens and Tweens are at a stage in their lives where they look to their peers for guidance on what to like, what to do, and how to be. It is natural, it is normal. But without their own inner compass and respect for themselves, it is almost completely left up to the friends (and Social Media personalities) they surround themselves with to influence who they become during this chapter of their lives.

With well over 200 hours of Youth-Specific Yoga Training, including Trauma-Informed Yoga for Youth, as well as over 1,000 hours of additional General Yoga Training, Kim offers an unmatched experience for her Youth Yoga Students, especially in a 1:1 setting. Kim has been teaching yoga to the youth since 2019 and it is not only her passion, but her specialty.

WE DON’T JUST “DO YOGA” LIKE DOWNWARD DOG AND OTHER POSTURAL YOGA…

Just like our Public Kids Yoga Classes, our Private Sessions with the Youth are NOT what you would typically experience in an adults or general yoga class. We aren’t quietly moving from posture to posture..

Instead, we rest.

We breathe using all different forms of pranayama - breathing techniques - some to stimulate, others to calm.

We move - dependent on the student and their need, sometimes it’s for 15 minutes, sometimes it’s for 40 minutes, sometimes its for 5 minutes total.

Each class, a new Yogic Concept is introduced to the student and we chat about it. Topics include:

  • Gratitude

  • Self-Love vs. Self-Care

  • Self-Respect

  • Compassion for Self and Others

  • Truthfulness- What is YOUR truth in a situation, in an opportunity, in LIFE?

  • Cleanliness - personal hygiene, cleanliness and organization of space/room

  • Our diet - not just the food we eat, but what we consume with our eyes, with our ears, with our thoughts..

  • Positive Affirmations

  • plus many, many more

Working with various different activities for the different concepts and philosophies to fully embody what is being taught.

And, we almost always have time to journal - complete with several different decks of Oracle Cards— two of which Kim personally created herself with the Youth in mind: “Mindful Journaling Cards” as journaling prompts, and “Flip The Script” Positive Affirmation Cards.

  • Mindful Journaling Cards example: “List 5 people who love you, with YOU being number 1. How do you know they love you? What actions do they consistently take to show you this? How can you acknowledge your awareness of this love they have for you to them?”

  • Flip The Script Cards example: “This is about to turn out better than I could have ever imagined.” - What situation comes to mind when you pulled this card? List all the ways you can be pleasantly surprised with how this all pans out, instead of focusing on everything that might go wrong.

And of course, the end of every class we close with Savasana or Magic Garden - a final opportunity to rest, meditate, or quietly reflect and be in stillness.
